Veterinary Assistant
Arlington Animal Hospital is looking for an enthusiastic team player to join a group of dedicated individuals in our growing veterinary hospital in beautiful Southwestern Vermont!

About Us: The Arlington Animal Hospital is American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) accredited and see dogs, cats, avian and exotic pets. This position is a great opportunity to learn and advance your skills in a veterinary hospital.
About the Role: You will help distinguish our hospital with professionalism, best practices, and outstanding customer service. Qualified candidates will possess a positive attitude, compassion for both animals and people, and motivation to learn. Previous veterinary experience is a plus, but we are willing to train the right person. Salary based on experience.
The responsibilities of a Veterinary Assistant include:
- Restrain pets during physical exams, vaccinations, and treatments
- Assist both the Veterinarians and the Technicians in their daily tasks
- Help with basic animal husbandry
- Ensure constant cleanliness by cleaning and prepping exam rooms, temporary animal housing areas and other areas of the hospital
- Package laboratory samples
- Assist with diagnostic testing
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or course credit in veterinary technology or animal science from an American Veterinary Medical Association accredited program is a plus.
- Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
- Attention to detail
- Patient, optimistic, and caring personality and good sense of humor
- Basic understanding of animal behavior and health care
- Passion for working with animals and their owners
- Excellent computer skills to help maintain medical records in veterinary software
- Physical ability to restrain larger pets when necessary
- Must also be able to lift 50 pounds, work on feet all day, and clearly communicate with the Veterinarians, support staff and clients
$15.00 – $18.00 per hour
